Anchor tenant (tienda ancla)
A large, well-known tenant (department store, supermarket, cinema) that draws traffic to a shopping center and supports the smaller stores around it.
Anchors usually take big spaces on favourable terms because the visits they generate benefit the whole center. For inline tenants, being close to the right anchor can matter as much as the rent.
When evaluating a space, ask which anchors are open, which are coming, and how their lease terms and opening dates line up with yours.
